Adelphi Symphony Orchestra at Adelphi University Performing Arts Center

Christopher Lyndon-Gee conducts a program featuring a performance of Olivier Messiaen’s deeply personal song cycle Poèmes pour Mi, written following the unexpected death of the composer’s first wife, known as “Mi.” This early work draws heavily on Messaien’s predecessor, Claude Debussy. Soprano Carole Bertho, a specialist in 20th century French repertoire, is the soloist in this tender exploration of love and the individual’s relationship to God. The program concludes with Beethoven’s much-loved Symphony No. 6, the “Pastoral”.
