The funniest show ever that will make you cry. Set in Truvy's beauty salon in a small town in Louisiana. All the ladies who are "anybody" come to have their hair done while sharing the latest gossip and joys of friendship. The play is alternately hilarious and touching as it moves from the excitement of Shelby's wedding to sadness as friends mourn her loss. The sudden realization of their mortality deeply affects the women, but also draws on the underlying strength—and love—which give the play, and its characters, the special quality to make them truly touching, funny and marvelously amiable company in good times and bad. These women are true steel magnolias: Southern Belles who are flowery on the outside, but strong as steel on the inside.
