, “If you love Elvis songs, and you love a hunka hunka burnin’ love story, then slip on your blue suede shoes and come see ALL SHOOK UP at the Pearl Theater! Thank you, thank you very much” says Curtis Barber the director of Pearland Theatre Guilds latest summer musical comedy, All Shook Up by Joe Di Pietro, inspired by and featuring the songs of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley.
Appropriate for all ages, this one is sure to be an immediate hit. It is high energy, really funny, has great music but also deals with themes of inequality and challenging the status quo. Not to mention a great love story!
Loosely based on Shakespeare's Twelfth night, All Shook Up tells the story of a small town girl (with big dreams), from somewhere in the middle of a square state...in the middle of a square decade...and the motorcycle-riding stud she falls for. It's 1955 and the guitar-playing roustabout changes everything and everyone he meets in this hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy that'll have you jumpin' out of your blue suede shoes with such classics as "Heartbreak Hotel," "Jailhouse Rock," and "Don't Be Cruel."
Book by Joe Di Pietro, Directed by Curtis Barber, with Music directed by Carol Daubert and Choreography by Katie Harrsion. The show features some area favorites, including Zachary Reeves as Chad and Hayley Biermeister as Natalie.
