The Stanford Chamber Chorale is the university's most select choral organization. The 24-member Chorale is on tour to Hawaii in late March, and will present an evening concert at the Kahilu, directed by Stanford University Music Department Chair Steve Sano.
The Stanford Chamber Chorale has performed internationally with some of the world's leading choral organizations, including the Tallis Scholars; the Joyful Company of Singers (London); the Choirs of Trinity College, Cambridge; New College, Oxford; and Royal Holloway, University of London; and will be presenting joint concerts with the Choir of St. John's College, Cambridge in 2016. And, the group has presented concerts in many of the great cathedrals in the UK (Salisbury, Wells, Lincoln, York, Ely, Exeter, Newport, Llandaff), as well as in leading venues in Germany, Austria, Japan, China, and Thailand.
The Choral tours to the Islands usually once every four years—though it's actually been six years since their last tour, and they've never visited Hawai?i Island before. They will present a mixed program featuring everything from chant, Palestrina, Howells, Antognini, Bruchard, Sisask, and spirituals, as well as Robert Cazimero's arrangement of Kaula ?Ili, and a newly commissioned arrangement from Eric Tuan of the Queen's Sanoe.
