Regina and Richard have kindly refused the invitation of their young neighbors. In the past they were always the last to leave the parties. Now they rather prefer to spend their evenings at home alone. But then the intrusive couple stands at the door. Dolf tells in detail about illness and marital problems. Tina obsessively informs about her infidelity and the children. In the heated atmosphere also private details are revealed. Finally, the evening gets out of control. Richard proposes a partner-swapping and Tina gets aggressive ...
Two couples and two generations with different lifestyles are confronted with each other. While Dolf and Tina feel they have to discuss everything, because Tina believes that otherwise she will get cancer, Regina in contrast believes that "those who have to talk, have a problem." What is truth and what is reality? And how much abysmal evil does an open word contain, how much respect and compassion does a lie incorporate? These are the questions Theresia Walser's and Karl-Heinz Ott's ambiguous play is about.
After Etwas Ruhe vor dem Sturm, Monsoon in April, and Herrenbestatter, Die Ganze Welt is the fourth work Theresia Walser - this time in coproduction with Karl-Heinz Ott - writes for the National Theatre.
