A young Scotsman pursues a beautiful winged sylph (spirit) in Colorado Ballet’s romantic season opener, La Sylphide. For the first time in nearly 20 years, Colorado Ballet will perform the classical masterpiece, which includes choreography by August Bournonville and music by Herman Severin Løvenskiold, performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. Bewitched by the otherworldly sylph, the man abandons his fiancé and follows the creature into the forest. Temptation for the unknown drives him toward an unattainable love; a quest that causes him to lose everything in one of the world’s most romantic ballets.
