An astonishingly theatrical, almost cinematic fashion, Black Watch tells the story of the Iraq War through the experiences of a legendary Scottish regiment. After premiering at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, it went on to an ecstatic reception around the world. An environmental, intensely physical production, Black Watch hurtles its audience from a pool room in Fife to an armored wagon in Iraq as it weaves together stories based on interviews with former soldiers. Black Watch has been performed around the world in such unconventional spaces as drill halls, arenas and armories to create a dramatic military environment and accommodate the production's stylized physicality. Now, it comes to the historic Broadway Armory on Chicago's north side for a limited two week engagement.
