Chicago’s award-winning dance and production company, Praize Productions, Inc. (PPI), will return to the stage with their latest production, Black Love Reigns Supreme. This multidisciplinary, theatrical production with a 90’s R&B vibe is an intimate adaptation of all that Black love encompasses. Creatively crafted as a love letter to “Black Love,” this production encourages the audience to explore love in all its definitions, compilations and complexities within the Black community. Black Love Reigns Supreme will shed light on all aspects of love: Eros (romantic), Philia (friendly), and Agape (selfless), expanding across all ages and generations. The Girls Opportunity Alliance, a program of the Obama Foundation, recently recognized PPI by awarding funding and programmatic support to continue breaking down barriers for girls. Black Love Reigns Supreme includes William Gill, artistic director for the Joel Hall Dancers and Center, as the resident choreographer for the 2023-2024 season, as he will head the PPI male ensemble and choreograph along with Executive Artistic Director Enneressa LaNette for the RIZE Pro-Elite professional company for the upcoming production. Traditionally, PPI performances were all women and girls. The performance will also include the RIZE Pro-Elite Company, PPI’s professional dance company comprised of all women of color, and RIZE Youth Company, PPI’s youth dance ensemble comprised of dancers ranging from ages 5 to 17, which serves as PPI’s pre-professional program, a component of PPI’s Performing Arts Academy. New this season, PPI has also teamed up with Movement Strengthens Balance, LLC and Dance With Me Productions’ youth ensembles to bring a showstopping piece during the production.
Reva and David Logan Center for the Arts is at 915 E 60th St, Chicago, IL 60637, Chicago, IL.
