Why is York, Pennsylvania, known as the White Rose City? William Shakespeare’s Henry VI plays provide the answer through an epic depiction of the 15th-century English civil war known as the War of the Roses. The OrangeMite Shakespeare production of Henry VI, Parts 2 & 3 features this thrilling conflict between the rival houses of York (the White Rose) and Lancaster (the Red Rose). This original adaptation of rarely performed dramatic literature features many surprises, including pirates, witches, demons, and sword fights. Also, did we mention singing and dancing? However, as always, Shakespeare’s illuminating verse takes center stage. The performance is approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes long. Performance Location: Ann B Barshinger Center for the Arts, York Country Day School, 1000 Indian Rock Dam Rd, York, PA 17403; access the venue from Indian Rock Dam Rd.
