Lancaster Academy presents "Annie Get Your Gun!"

Annie Get Your Gun is a classical American musical based loosely on the sharpshooter Annie Oakley. The story follows Annie's journey from a simple backwoods girl to a star of Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.

The musical opens with Buffalo Bill's traveling Wild West Show coming to Cincinnati. Frank Butler, the show's sharpshooting headliner, challenges anyone in the audience to a shooting match. Enter Annie Oakley, a spirited and talented marksman who not only out shoots Frank but steals his heart in the process. Despite Annie's success, she faces challenges as she navigates the competitive world of show business and romance.

Annie's rise to fame is not without its hurdles. As she becomes the star attraction of the Wild West Show, her success strains her relationship with Frank, who is used to being the center of attention. The musical explores themes of competition, humility and the clash between tradition and progress.

The musical's score, composed by Irving Berlin, features iconic songs such as "There's No Business Like Show Business," "Doin' What Comes Natur'lly," and "You Can't Get a Man with a Gun."
