Lyric Stage Boston opens its 2024/25 season with Urinetown: The Musical, a satirical take on corporate greed and the struggle for basic human rights in a city facing a water shortage. Directed by Courtney O’Connor, the musical follows Bobby Strong as he leads a revolt against the tyrannical Caldwell B. Cladwell, filled with quirky characters and witty musical numbers. The cast features Kenny Lee as Bobby Strong, Christopher Chew as Cladwell, and Kathy St. George as Ma Strong, among others. Through humor and lively parodies, this modern classic offers a thought-provoking commentary on social injustice.
