A Heartfelt and Powerful Portrayal of Our Veterans 1775-2019 The Barnstable Comedy Club, 3171 Main Street in Barnstable is proud to present, THE AMERICAN SOLDIER , written and performed by Douglas Taurel on Monday, November 11 at 7:00 PM.
Tickets are $20 and may be purchased online at www.BarnstableComedyClub.org or at the door. Call 508-362-6333 for more information. This production is sponsored by The Cape and Islands Veterans Outreach Council. The audience is invited to stay for a post-show talkback.
THE AMERICAN SOLDIER is a solo show based on actual accounts and letters written by veterans and their families from the American Revolution through current day Iraq and Afghanistan wars. It strives to help us understand why it is so difficult for our veterans to re-enter our pedestrian life when they come home after experiencing combat, and examines the incredible sacrifices made by our veterans and their families.
In 75 minutes, Taurel enters into the personas of 14 veterans and their family members, telling their story of courage and sacrifice. THE AMERICAN SOLDIER exposes their scars, with both darkness and humor. It is a journey through the American story with moments that resound with lasting meaning for both audiences old enough to remember, and those young enough to yearn for inspiration.
Taurel explained, "This is a true work of passion and I deeply hope that the audiences will go away with a deeper appreciation of the tremendous sacrifice our servicemen and service women, and their families, have made for our country."
