We meet eight-year-olds Kayleen and Doug in the nurse’s office of their elementary school. She has a stomachache and a penchant for “bad thoughts”, he has a head injury from riding his bike off the roof of the school. The powerful connection between these two people will endure many twists and turns with the accompanying bumps and bruises over the next three decades of their lives. To tell their story Rajiv Joseph (ANIMALS OUT OF PAPER) has crafted a dark and beautiful gem of a play about love, friendship, pain and healing.
