The baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky is invited by the most prestigious opera houses, showing his talent for Mozart and Verdi and playing the great roles of Russian opera, as he is showing his formidable skills as an interpreter of the song repertoire of his country of birth. Having already been welcomed to La Monnaie for two recitals, he has come back, ready to enchant us with the language of Pushkin in the form of Tchaikovsky’s and Rachmaninoff’s lieder, as well as offering us the songs of two master pianists and composers of the 19th century: the post-romantic Nikolai Medtner and the unclassifiable Franz Liszt, whose lieder form the least well-known part of his canon. Come and hear a magnificent voice in a programme that is both brilliant and out of the ordinary.
