Babel (words) at La Monnaie

Babel (words) starts with a supposition... What if Humanity had managed to reach Heaven from the famous ‘Tower of Babel’ ? Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet joined forces with the English visual artist Antony Gormley to stage a show that looks with humour and humaneness at what divides nations and people. Its cosmopolitan group of dancers and musicians explores languages, identities, cultures, beliefs, individual and collective passions, in a fabulous maelstrom of choreography modulated within a futuristic architectural continuum. Betwixt and between verb and verve, sense and significance, we watch and wonder as the quest unfurls for what binds us all beneath our apparent differences... ‘Common to us all is the human soul.’ Created by La Monnaie in 2010, and following a"successful global tour of performances, Babel (words) is now back in Brussels !
