World Music Institute closes out its vibrant, danceable World to Brooklyn series with Grammy-nominated modern salsa fusion band La Clave Secreta at Roulette tonight, May 10 at 8:00 p.m. Infusing elements of classical, jazz, funk, and flamenco music into traditional salsa and timba forms, the 12-piece band creates a sophisticated sound full of adventurous arrangements and danceable rhythms.

Award-winning choreographer Crystal Pite (Dark Matters, The You Show) returns to Toronto with her newest work, The Tempest Replica. Presented byCanadian Stage at the Bluma Appel Theatre for five performances only from today, May 7 to 11, Pite's critically acclaimed company Kidd Pivot transforms one of Shakespeare's final plays, The Tempest, into an innovative dance creation.

Today the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery has installed a photograph of American entertainer Mickey Rooney with frequent co-star Judy Garland. The photograph was created by Harold E. Edgerton in 1939. It will be on view in a first-floor space that is designated for remembrance of recently deceased people represented in the museum's collection.
