Jerri has loved taking photos all her life and was always the one in the family who took everyone’s picture. After her daughter was born, Jerri started scrapbooking and she became interested in taking better pictures for her scrapbooks. Then after her daughter started an interest in musical theatre, Jerri started taking pictures of the shows and developed a love for musical theatre as well. She has been seen snapping pics at many theatres around Columbus and surrounding areas. Jerri's bucket list before she moves on from this world is to shoot a show on Broadway! So if you can assist with this quest.... To see more of Jerri’s work, visit http://jams.smugmug.com

Everyone is familiar with the timeless story by Hans Christian Andersen, but the present version abounds in delightful differences. The action takes place in the kingdom of Mango-Chutney, in which a one-man army named Pony, an Emperor known as the wisest man in the world, Princess Farthingale and host of colorful characters live. The Emperor, decides he must have the most beautiful clothes in the world, and offers half of the state treasury to the weaver who comes up with the finest cloth. Being as wise as he is, he also announces that he will give the other half of the treasury plus the hand of his daughter, Princess Farthingale to anyone who can make him believe that something is real when actually it is not. While it is touch and go for a while, all ends happily and in a burst of song as the villains are routed, the Princess united with her true love, and the Emperor saved by the cheerfully vocal intercession of the enthralled audience. Next performance in Saturday August 3 and Sunday August 4, 2pm at Fountain Square in Lancaster. Corner of Broad and Main Street. For more information visit: https://www.thelancasterplayhouse.org/

The View UpStairs is an interpretive account of a true event: a notoriously unsolved arson fire that took place at a gay bar called the Up Stairs Lounge on the ragged edge of the famous French Quarter. Thirty-two lives were claimed in that bar on the night of June 24, 1973 when an arsonist lit a spark that destroyed a trailblazing establishment—a place apart that had transcended barriers of straight and gay, male and female, black and white. Through the fantasia of musical theatre, The View UpStairs will do the impossible. This musical will convey you alongside Wes, our modern-day “millennial influencer” protagonist, into the bar before it burned. There, you will see the Up Stairs Lounge in a way that historians like myself can only yearn for: joyous, full of the revelry of men and women crooning beside the piano and, as yet, untouched by its tragic fate. You will hear the laughter and feel the love that commingled before all the screams. Performances are July 17 thru the 27th, 2019 at the Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215. For tickets, visit: http://www.evolutiontheatre.org/

Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding 'Burger Palace Boys' and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking 'Pink Ladies' in bobby sox and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head 'greaser' Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their 'Summer Nights' as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as 'Greased Lightnin',' 'It's Raining on Prom Night,' 'Alone at the Drive-In Movie' recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An eight-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals, along with innumerable school and community productions place Grease among the world's most popular musicals. Performances are June 28th thru July 7th at the Columbus Performing Arts Center, 549 Franklin Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215. For tickets or more information, visit: https:www.imaginecolumbus.org
