Just yesterday, the company of Broadway's Something Rotten celebrated 100 performances at the St. James Theatre with a special cake from Carlo's Bakery. BroadwayWorld was there for the special day and you can check out photos below!

The New York Civil Liberties Union, the New York State affiliate of the ACLU, just welcomed a star-studded lineup for its annual benefit concert. 'Broadway Stands Up for Freedom,' a celebratory event in honor of the recent Supreme Court victory for the freedom to marry, boasted performances by some of Broadway's finest last night at the NYU Skirball Center for Performing Arts (566 LaGuardia Place).

Ghostlight Records celebrated this week's physical CD release of the Something Rotten! Original Broadway Cast Album with a special in-store performance and CD signing at Barnes & Noble today, July 16 at 4:00 PM. BroadwayWorld was on hand for the big event earlier today - check out photos below!

 Tina Benko (Broadway's Irena's Vow, Top Girls, The Real Thing) joins Pun Bandhu (Wit, The Judge), Jesse J. Perez (Recent Tragic Events, American Splendor), DeLanna Studi (August: Osage County, Edge of America), and Myra Lucretia Taylor (Nine, 'Girls') in Primary Stages and Ensemble Studio Theatre/Alfred P. Sloan Foundation Project's upcoming production, Informed Consent. The New York City premiere by Deborah Zoe Laufer (End Days, Leveling Up) and directed by Obie winner Liesl Tommy(Appropriate, The Good Negro) will play a limited engagement August 4 - September 13, 2015 at Primary Stages at The Duke on 42nd Street - a New 42nd Street project. Opening night is Tuesday, August 18 at 7PM.

Penn Jillette and Teller make their long-awaited return to the Broadway stage this summer with Penn & Teller On Broadway, now in performances at the Marquis Theatre (46th Street between Broadway and 8th). The production opened last night, July 12 and will play a strictly limited six-week engagement through August 16. An American in Paris, which opened April 12, 205, at the Palace Theatre, just celebrated it's 100th performance. As if the night wasn't exciting enough, one lucky audience member was called up on stage to join the cast to receive a free trip to Paris, France. The seventh annual National High School Musical Theatre Awards / Jimmy Awards were held last night, June 29, 2015, at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway. This one-of-a-kind-event was hosted by two-time Tony Award-winner Michael Cerveris, currently on Broadway in this year's Best Musical Fun Home at Circle in the Square. The coveted Jimmy Award for Best Performance by an Actress and Best Performance by an Actor on Monday, June 29 at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre, was presented to Marla Louissaint representing The Gershwin Awards and Anthony Skillman, representing the M.A.C.Y. Transport Group will soon present Three Days to See, conceived and directed by Jack Cummings III, based on the words of Helen Keller.  Three Days to See is scheduled to begin performances July 12, open July 26, and finish its run August 16 at Theatre 79, 79 East 4 Street.

Rehearsals are currently underway for Broadway's new musical Amazing Grace, which will play Broadway's Nederlander Theatre (208 West 41st Street) with performances beginning Thursday, June 25 for a Thursday, July 16 opening night. Serendipity 3 (225 E 60th St, between 2nd & 3rd Ave.) just unveiled their Amazing Grace Sweet Freedom Sundae and some of the cast was on hand for the special event. In The Tempest, Shakespeare's classic about young love, old enemies, and the eternal magic of storytelling, Prospero, exiled to a fantastical island, unleashes a churning storm to shipwreck the traitor brother who stole his throne and settle the score once and for all. But bitter revenge is upended by newfound love in this sublime masterpiece that proves we are all 'such stuff as dreams are made on.'

Earlier today, Macy's welcomed TV and Broadway star Matthew Morrison as he hosted the exclusive in-store CD and digital release of Finding Neverland: The Album from Republic Records, along with a special performance by singer-songwriter Kiesza. Customers were invited to celebrate the album release with Morrison and Kiesza, as she dazzled the crowd with her solo track, "Stronger."
