Playwrights Horizons presents Indian Summer, the world premiere of a new play by Gregory S. Moss (Reunion, punkplay, Billy Witch, La Brea, Orange Hat Grace, House of Gold), directed by Carolyn Cantor (Fly by Night, The Great God Pan, After the Revolution, Essential Self-Defense at PH; Pumpgirl; Orange Flower Water; Stone Cold Dead Serious). Commissioned by Playwrights Horizons, the play is the sixth and final production of the theater company's acclaimed 2015/2016 Season. The limited engagement will play through Sunday evening, June 26 at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater (416 West 42nd Street).

Atlantic Theater Company presents the New York premiere of The Purple Lights of Joppa Illinois, written and directed by Obie Award winner and Pulitzer Prize finalist Adam Rapp. The Purple Lights of Joppa Illinois features William Apps (Wolf in the River), Connor Barrett(Finer Noble Gases), Susan Heyward (A Trip to Bountiful) and Katherine Reis (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt).

Vassar & New York Stage and Film will soon present its 32nd Powerhouse Season, which runs June 24 to July 31 at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, including full productions of new plays, workshop presentations of new plays and musicals, and readings of other works in progress, among other developmental programming. Past highlights from this celebrated program include the recent Tony nominees Hamilton, Bright Star, and The Humans.

Just last night, The Public Theater presented its Annual Gala, THE UNITED STATES OF SHAKESPEARE at the Delacorte Theater. Directed by Jeremy McCarter, the always highly-anticipated gala included scenes from Shakespeare's greatest works and the American poems, songs, and stories they inspired, performed by some of The Public's and the nation's, most celebrated actors and musicians.  BroadwayWorld brings you photos from the big night below!

Rajiv Joseph's Guards at the Taj, produced by the Atlantic Theater Company, received the Obie Award® for Best New American Play, which is accompanied by a $1,000 prize. Legendary actor/dancer/choreographer Carmen de Lavallade and renowned playwright A.R. Gurney each received a special Obie Award® for Lifetime Achievement. Obie and Screen Actors Guild® Award-winning actress Lea DeLaria returned as host of this year's ceremony, which was held at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street).

Signature Theatre presents the world premiere of DAPHNE'S DIVE, written by Pulitzer Prize winner Quiara Alegria Hudes (Water by the Spoonful, In the Heights) and directed by Thomas Kail (Hamilton, Fox's 'Grease: Live'). The production just opened in The Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). Second Stage Theatre, in association with Stacey MindichProductions, just last night opened the new musical, Dear Evan Hansen, featuring Ben Platt as the title character. Also reprising their performances from the 'splendid (Marks, Washington Post) DC cast are Laura Dreyfuss as Zoe, Mike Faist as Connor, Rachel Bay Jones as Heidi, Will Roland as Jared, Jennifer Laura Thompson as Cynthia. New cast members John Dossett (Larry) and Kristolyn Lloyd (Alana) complete the company.

FULLY COMMITTED began performances on April 1 and just opened last night, April 25, 2016 on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre.
