By Kang-Baek Lee & Translated by Kee-Yoon NahmDirected by Yong-Suk YooWritten by celebrate Korean playwright Kang-Baek Lee, Yellow Inn offers a grotesque humorous commentary on societal division along economic and generational lines. With elements that are recognizable in all times and places, the audience is given the opportunity to see themselves in the ridged architypes of the characters. Some elements of the play, however, are purely and undeniably Korean. When the play begins, the owner of the inn and his wife make a deal with the sister-in-law to hand over ownership of the inn if, and only if, she can prevent at least one guest from dying. While this sounds easy, it so happens that the guests of the inn have been fighting and killing one another for countless years. The sister must put a stop to this violent cycle of death if she ever wants ownership of the inn.
