Chainsaws (and horror fans!) will be buzzing in Austin this September as Evil Dead: The Musical makes its bloody way into town. The show runs September 16-21 at the Long Center. Tickets are on sale now, starting at $19. Highly coveted “Splatter Zone” seats are already going fast!
The ‘tale of lust and dismemberment’ is based on the Sam Raimi cult film classics Evil Dead (1981), Evil Dead II (1987), and Army of Darkness (1992).
Evil Dead: The Musical combines all three to make one of the craziest theatrical experiences of all time…and it’s the only musical in the world where audiences can sit in a “Splatter Zone!” and get drenched from the onstage mayhem.
The stage is set when five college students go to an abandoned cabin in the woods. From there it’s a pretty typical story: Boy and friends take a weekend getaway, boy expects to get lucky, boy unleashes ancient evil spirit, friends turn into evil zombie-like demons, boy fights until dawn to survive.
The work features a book and lyrics by George Reinblatt, music by Frank Cipolla, Bond, Melissa Morris and Reinblatt with music supervision by Cipolla.
Songs include "All the Men in my Life Keep Getting Killed by Candarian Demons," "Look Who's Evil Now" and "Do the Necronomicon," as well as others.
