Music By George Gershwin, Book by Fred Jackson, Lyrics by Arthur Jackson & B.G. Sylva, Additional Lyrics by Lou Paley, Irving Caesar, & Arthur Francis. The 100th anniversary production of the first Broadway musical written by George Gershwin. This tuneful romp has not been seen since its premiere in 1919. It has been lovingly restored by TAPs co-artistic director James Valcq. LA LA LUCILLE is a riotous, fast-paced farce about a married couple who plot to become temporarily divorced in order to claim an inheritance. When their scheme goes awry, hilarity, hijinks, and tap dancing ensue. The score brims over with Gershwin melodies that havent been heard in a century, as well as some that have never been performed plus a bonus of several immortal Gershwin hits.
